Sodium polyac acrylate is an anionic substance that is a good sequestering or chelating agent. This property of it is used in helping the detergents work more efficiently in hard water. The sodium polyacrylate combines with the heavy metals in the water which makes it a super absorbent. Alright but what about your water? Oh, yes, The water. I took a beaker and added some polyacrylate to it and gradually added some water. After a second, it all vanished and all I was left was that coconut powder like substance. I would like to mention that this is a really good absorbent and a small amount of it can create a pile of that coconut powder like substance, about several hundred times more than that.
